Jerry Goldsmith komponierte die Musik. Das Album erschien im Februar 2022 bei La-La Land Records limitiert auf 10.000 Exemplare. Es enthält die vollständige Musik, den ursprünglichen Film-Soundtrack sowie eine, im Vergleich zur 2012 veröffentlichten Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Expanded Edition) geringere, Anzahl von Alternativ-Aufnahmen. Der ursprüngliche Film-Soundtrack wurde erstmals von den 1st-Generation Master-Tracks komplett neu gemastered und gemischt.
