I really, really like this episode. The final scene between Data & Dr. Kila (“Killer”) Marr, is moving & poignant.
Further, I accept ST episodes as they exist, don’t usually go in for “they should have done it this way”, or “what if it went like this”. These episodes have been with us for a long time and they are as they are.
That said, I feel we missed an opportunity to communicate with the Crystalline Entity (aka “The Giant Snowflake”) and to learn more about it, and maybe find a way to peacefully coexist.
I know that’s one of the points of the episode, but every time I watch it, I really want a different outcome! Maybe we will meet one in a future episode, and the methodology for communication devised by Data & Dr. Marr can be successfully deployed.
I want to know more about this/these creature(s).
