Just so you know, I'm not studying or have a degree in psychology so sorry if this is inaccurate.
So remember that one episode in Enterprise(Singularity, S2 Ep9) where the crew gets radiation sickness and starts obsessing over kinda dumb stuff? Well those obsessions might be related to fear. Not just any fear; fear of failure.
Think about it. Archer was afraid of failing his father's legacy by messing up the preface of his book, Tucker was afraid of failing to live up to his captains orders and expectations and do something as simple as fix a chair, Reed was afraid of failing at his job as armory officer and letting his ship and crew be destroyed, Sato was afraid of failing her family's legacy by not cooking the dish correctly, and Phlox was afraid of failing at his job as a doctor by not being able to determine what was wrong with Mayweather.
The reason T'Pol wasn't affected was because she's a Vulcan and Vulcan can't feel fear. Since she wasn't afraid of failure, she didn't obsess over how she could get stuff wrong or messed up like the others did and get completely addicted to it trying to make it perfect.
Again, I don't know anything about psychology, so if anything about this seems wrong, please let me know.
