I've been waiting to get my hands on the first issue since i saw a early preview at my local comic book shop. Glad it this new series will give a preview of what it was like to live in the latter half of the of the 31st century after The Burn. It will also be good to see characters i have not thought about since Picard & Year Five. For the most, it's interesting that things like Red Path and a certain captain came back after 800 years. What do you think of this series so far?
In TOS errand of mercy, kirk said "I'm a soldier, not a diplomat.". However, as a starfleet officer, wouldn't he definitely be considered a diplomat (and other things like a scientist, etc. too), even more than a soldier, since starfleet is primarily an exploration organization that engages in diplomacy with other species? So why did he say he's a soldier, not a diplomat?

Coming this summer—no release date announced as yet.
I for one have always found it interesting how James T. Kirk received a commendation for thinking outside the box by reprogramming the Kobayashi Maru test to find a way to beat a no-win scenario in the prime timeline, whereas he was academically reprimanded for violating the purpose of the test in the Kelvin timeline. As such, I can see the pros and cons of both. Does anyone feel similarly about this contrast?
There's a plaque commemorating Riverside as the future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk.
Well, I keep thinking that there should be one in La Barre commemorating it as the future birthplace of Jean-Luc Picard. And there isn't, from what I know. That's unfortunate.

As opposed to my appreciation for Picard as my top personal-favorite, my maternal grandfather prefers Kirk, and he and I often have these conversations over the pros and cons of both. So last year, as a tension-settler, in addition to being a token of my love for him, I bought him the "10 Reasons Why Kirk Is Better Than Picard" t-shirt off the Star Trek Shop.
Oh, man, he just cracked up a storm when he saw what it detailed! My only question is: why isn't there a "10 Reasons Why Picard Is Better Than Kirk" counterpart!? That would've been perfect! I'd wear it in a heartbeat whenever I see my gramps!
