What happened to the people from other time periods, like gillian taylor, l.q. clemonds, clare raymond, ralph offenhouse, morgan bateson (and his crew), montgomery scott, and berlinghoff rasmussen? Were there any other people from other time periods?

I just found this, the 1987 edition, at a local used book store. I have not seen a copy since then. I am thrilled!
In TSFS, scott didn't really like the excelsior, but he seemed to like it better in generations. Why did he change his opinion about it?

I just rewatched TMP…can’t tell you how many times I have seen it, at least a score, what I can tell you is that I like it better & better with each screening!
