Back in the 60s, when TOS was the latest thing, the character of Uhura inspired women and people of color to go into science oriented careers, especially thanks to the active role Nichelle Nichols played in it.
Roll around to the 80s and with the Next Generation came LeVar Burton, already the host of Reading Rainbow and inspiring children to read, furthermore spurring on kids to go into science.
But what about the latest era of Trek? Who is the "role model" of the 21st Century?
