If federation scientists documented the borg on earth, and the borg were on the enterprise nx-01 and captain archer filed a report about them, then why didn't the enterprise d's crew know about them in q who? Shouldn't their advanced scans and computer databases have identified them as a species that was previously encountered by earth, even if the crew didn't recognize them?
In q who, q said "Interesting isn't it? Not a he, not a she, not like anything you've ever seen, an enhanced humanoid." when referring to the first borg drone in engineering (who clearly appeared to be a male), so why did he call it "him" and "he" several times after that? Shouldn't he have called it "it" if he thought it was neither a he, or a she? š¤
Poor young Ensign Gomez was so mortified when she spilled hot chocolate on Captain Picard. She thought she had ended her career in Starfleet when she met her Captain this way. Little did she know that the Captain she spilled her drink on was once a brash young Ensign who picked a fight with 3 Nausicaans and got stabbed in the back for it.
Just like Captain Picard's experience with the Nausicaans, it would actually turn out to be an important character-building moment for her. As we learned from the TNG episode "Tapestry," attempting to alter character building moments in your life because you're embarrassed by them can unravel the tapestry of your life.
Because of that character building moment, when a young Ensign embarrasses herself by tripping and falling on Captain Gomez's bridge, the Captain can remember her own experience and knows just what to say and brings a smile to the young Ensign's face, especially when the Ensign looks like she's about to fall all over herself trying to rectify the situation like the then-Ensign Gomez did.
Q would be one of the major reasons that the Federation won the Dominion War.
In the TNG episode "Q Who" Q introduced the Federation to the Borg, and said: "You're not prepared for what awaits you" and many people thought he was referring to future Borg encounters, but could he really have been referring to the Dominion?
In the episode "The Best of Both Worlds" Starfleet suffered the loss of over 40 ships to a single Borg cube and if they hadn't, Starfleet would not have started constructing more powerful ships and refitting current ones with better weaponry. So, the Federation may not have constructed the Akira Class, the Saber Class, the Defiant Class or the Prometheus Class and would not be prepared for the Dominion.
Perhaps there is like a sort of conference, with Q, the Prophets, the Organians and other species to decide the fate of the galaxy, and maybe the Prophets saw that at some point, the Dominion would attempt to take over the Alpha Quadrant and called Q to give the Federation a hint, a helping hand, so that the Alpha Quadrant would push the Dominion back to the Gamma Quadrant. It would be silly if the Q Continuum, the Prophets or any other god-like beings weren't aware of each other.

I haven't seen Q Who in a while but I found pictures of the Borg cube from Q who and it looked like it was being severely damaged by the Enterprise. The Enterprises phasers were cutting right through the Cube's hull. Voyager's torpedoes don't even do near as much damage as the Enterprises phasers. Were it's phasers enhanced or were the Borg much weaker in Q who than in Best of Both worlds or are Borg Cubes not as strong as we think and the only reason it destroyed 39/40 ships at Wolf 359 because of Picard/Locutus' knowledge?
