Its interesting to see how the same actor can take on to roles at the same time.
Frakes comes off one of his best episodes when he did Frame of Mind. He had been practicing.
This episode made sense just before the end when Lt Riker almost fell and died, and Commander Riker, just before that, told him not to quit.
When Commander Riker was helping him up, its curious to see who was Commander Riker helping. Was it Riker, or... Riker?
I believe he was mentally saved himself by saving Lt Riker.
Just imagine if you saw yourself die? I think it was more important for Commander Riker to save Lt Riker, than Lt. Riker not quitting. Commander Riker would not have been able to live with it, and then seeing Troi after that. It was important for him that Riker came back, and at the same time, teach Lt Riker not to quit.
Excellent episode once you watch it a few times.
Anyway, thats what I got out of it, did you see something different?
By the way, Worf had the best line in the episode when he said, "perhaps is seeing something in your double... something you do not like in yourself". That was brilliant. Great line for him. Worf has matured as a character.
How could Starfleet allow two men to serve, when they are completely identical, down to the fingerprints? One of them should’ve been forced to undergo some kind of physical alteration to distinguish one from the other. Whether that be vocal chord alteration (which would immediately make them distinguishable) or something less intense like eye color change?

Do you think Tom Riker was ever released from the Cardassian prison? Kira promised to get him out some day. She would never forget a promise like that.
I think after the dominion war they'd be able to get him out via negotiation. What do you think?
