Officially, it is all canon. Whether or not they fit with each other is another matter. Discovery and Strange New Worlds are notorious for not fitting with The Original Series.

How can both SNW and TOS be considered in the same history or Timeline if their facts do not converge? Saying that they "bend" canon is putting it mildly. Straight up invalidating much of The Original Series. Even Khan's birth year has been moved up 2 decades or so (With that Romulan time traveler even stating that the timeline had changed). If that's not evidence of a Timeline change... I don't know what is lol.

I share Dantela's opinion. But what's "official" and what "should be" aren't necessarily congruent.

Eh... While the show is officially canon. These won't be the same characters we said goodbye to in Nemesis. If any die... It's inconsequential. Guinan's whole backstory from the two parter Times Arrow was erased for example. Otherwise she would have recognized Picard in 2024. Sure time changed in the future. But the past events of the late 19th century wouldn't change. As soon as the Timeline is fixed post 2024... Wouldn't Guinan suddenly remember Times Arrow in 2024 therefore changing the events that led to time being fixed in the first place?

I haven't seen the episode in ages. If it was Dax that he saved... She was the love of his life. Well.... Second or third love of his life lol.

And in the words of Picard when asked if he'd sacrifice 1 life to save a thousand "I refuse to let arithmetic decide questions like that."

So from a certain point of view... Worf made a very human decision. Uncertain death of millions or the certain death of his wife.... That's an easy choice. Bashir and his Augment buddies predicted that the Dominion War would result in 900 Billion casualties. In the end it probably didn't exceed 2 Billion because predictions and statistical probabilities mean nothing in a world where the war can simply end when 2 Changelings link and come to an understanding.

He's like 20 years older than he's supposed to be. His character is great however. The episode "The Elysian Kingdom" really made him and Hemmer stand out. Very well written and acted. That episode could easily fit in The Original Series and be 100% consistent.

@Icecreamdif Odd that him choosing not to do so means that Uhura's hairstyle doesn't change. Assuming that the Romulans decide to attack the Federation in 2266 of Future Pike's timeline as well a few things should be different even in the rebooted visual continuity. Unless Uhura now just has short hair for the rest of her life.

@Admiral of the Xtacy Good man lol. This next upcoming SNW episode looks to be a reboot of Balance of Terror (Romulans attacking Outpost 4 using Plasma Torpedoes, Commander Hanson's quotes are exactly the same). This could indicate that they are indeed making Discovery/Strange New Worlds part of an alternate timeline thus preserving it and The Original Series in their unique forms without damaging either. This is precisely what I have been waiting for...

Or it's a vision that Pike has as a "What if he stayed in command and didn't get burned" he decides to go through with it after seeing the consequences.

I seriously hope it's the former.

There are always a few threads keeping it intact to be sure. But only a few...

Seems like people will just accept anything these days. Even when it intentionally breaks canon that's been (Not perfectly but more or less) consistent for 4 decades. There's a difference between making honest mistakes and straight up saying "It doesn't resonate with a modern audience so we're changing it." These changes are intentional. Spock will probably say "We classified this under penalty of treason. Nobody can mention the Gorn until we face them in TOS."

Kirk: What's a Gorn?

Spock: Definitely not what we just encountered on Cestus III. Scanners couldn't detect the Gorn hatchlings we faced 7 years ago... Yet my Tricorder can detect these humanoid tank Reptiles. Most illogical.

There's a big difference between small inconsistencies and blatant retcons of previous material for the sake of modernization. Trek has always had issues. But they were often very minor and excusable. Discovery, Picard, and Strange New Worlds look, feel, and have many details that points to them being an Alternate Timeline. CBS just won't say so as they need $$$ for their streaming service and could care less about continuity. It doesn't need to be perfect. But this isn't even 20% of the way there lol.

It's a reboot timeline in all but name. Christine Chapel's personality is completely different. Eugenics Wars is no longer in the 1990s. 30% of Earth's population died in WW3 as opposed to just 600 million. Mbenga is 20 years older than he's supposed to be. Spock and T'Pring are no longer betrothed. Various small things that clearly separate DSC/SNW from the realm of TOS in more ways than just visual changes. Now it appears that the Gorn are completely different and known making Kirk, Spock, and the entire crew of the Enterprise amnesiac in Arena.... Uhura and Spock have clearly encountered them prior but seem to have no memory of them by 2266. Kirk being Captain of the Enterprise would know of them simply through the knowledge possessed by the rest ESPECIALLY SPOCK! lol.
