I think, he thinks he’s the good guy. Especially in the first half of the seasons. He has moments in which he made me believe that maybe he had some redeeming qualities. I actually think he liked Sisko. I definitely think that the evil within him grew as time went on. I’m sure it was always there....I’m not sure he knew it was always there or that it outwardly manifested itself at all times until later on.
This does bring up some interesting points though.
For example, Starfleet is called upon to protect the entire Federation from the Dominion. As stated above, their primary mission was supposed to be exploration, and it is the Andorians who had a large Military background and would’ve been a more logical choice to fight in the war.
Are we going to fall back to position that over the Centuries, humans and Starfleet ships became technologically superior to all other members? If that’s true, then I’d think you’d see more of those species serving in Starfleet. Wouldn’t it be more logical to assume that the other members continued to develop technology, and by the time of the Dominion War (because its the example I choose) it would be still the andorians who were the military power in the federation and they would be the ones called upon to lead the fight.
Obviously, Star Trek is a show made by humans for humans to watch, so humans would be featured.
the Federation is portrayed as being this large entity with a variety of species and cultures none of whom really feel inclined to explore space anymore. They just seem to leave it up to the humans to do their exploration and defend them now.
I could never be a Vulcan. I like emotions. I actually think that the Cardassians are the most well rounded species of these four, plus humans.
@Edgreen364 I think you’ve hit on the most important point. Seeking the heroes act so out of character to the point of it being uncomfortable it what makes those episodes work.
If we have a show with characters set in that universe but we don’t have their Prime universe counterparts as a bases for comparison than how is that different from any other series we could watch

How do you feel about a Star Trek Series that primarily takes place on Earth? Obviously it would feature ships in space but maybe they dock in earth orbit and the crew lives on the planet. I always thought it would be interesting to see more of earth in the future!

I’m thinking that Just because they could repair “dead” drones, doesn’t mean that they thought that was the best use of their resources.
I think that the simplest answer is that Dr. Crusher was wrong. Her knowledge of the Borg was limited at that point.
(Aside from real world issues like different writers who didn’t care about continuity)
