Daniel F. Curry (ou "Dan" Curry) était un cadre de l'équipe des effets spéciaux de Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager et Star Trek: Enterprise. Il fut également le réalisateur de la seconde équipe de toutes les séries dérivées de Star Trek. Pour son travail sur Star Trek, Curry a remporté sept Emmy Awards, et a été nominé pour douze autres.

Maître en Tai chi, Curry a également chorégraphié l'art martial klingon Mok'bara et dessiné le célèbre bat'leth. Pour la saison 6 de Deep Space Nine, il aida à dessiner l'USS Curry NCC-42254, qui fut nommé en son honneur. Il laissa également son mage sur les photos de Dekon Elig dans DS9: "Babel" et Ches'sarro Seeto dans DS9: "Necessary Evil". Curry a également dessiné la couverture du DC Comics TOS Special 2, publié fin 1994, et qui représente l'USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A et l'USS Defiant NCC-1764. Une interview de 19 minutes avec Dan Curry peut être vue sur le DVD 7 de la saison 6 de TNG, dans un bonus intitulé "Dan Curry Profile". Dans cette interview, il parle de la fabrictation de certains accessoires et de explique comment sa connaissance des arts martiaux a influencé le style de combat des Klingons.

En 2007, Curry fut consultant des effets spéciaux pour l'épisode "World Enough and Time" du fan film Star Trek: New Voyages, en compagnie d'autres anciens de Star Trek tels que George Takei, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, Michael Okuda et Tom Morga, pour ne citer qu'eux.

Plus récemment, Curry a travaillé comme coordinateur des effets visuels sur les séries Moonlight (2007-2008) ou encore Chuck (2008, coavec Bonita Friedericy et Tony Todd, par l'ancien acteur de Voyager Robert Duncan McNeill).
