Pocket Books est une société d'édition, filiale de Simon & Schuster.

Pocket Books publie, depuis 1979, l'ensemble des romans et ouvrages de référence officiels Star Trek. En 2009, une réorganisation éditoriale chez Simon & Schuster a conduit à la publication des formats hardcover et trade paperback dans une autre filiale, Gallery Books. Certains ouvrages de référence et certains romans jeunesse ont également été publiés par les filiales Aladdin Paperbacks, Wallaby Books, Archway Books, Wanderer Books et Minstrel Books.

Historique de Pocket Books

Fondée en 1939, Pocket Books se démarqua de ses concurrents en publiant les premiers livres de poche (paperback), aux prix plus abordables, aux Etats-Unis et en établissant de nouvelles chaînes de distribution (drug stores, five and dime stores, department stores qui ne vendaient pas de livres auparavant).

Simon & Schuster a racheté la compagnie en 1966.

En 1975, Simon & Schuster (et Pocket Books en conséquence) fut vendu à Gulf+Western (qui avait également acheté Paramount Pictures en 1966), et a été incorporé à Viacom en 2002 puis à CBS Corporation en 2006.

Le logo de Pocket Books est un kangourou nommé "Gertrude".
