- Le livre est principalement composé d'articles 'in-universe' produit pour la collection "Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection" (et ses dérivés), complétés de textes, cartes et arts complémentaires.
- Pour les deux livres consacrés au quadrant Delta, la société a recréé de nouveaux modèles CGI pour les quelques vaisseaux de Voyager créés seulement en modèle physique (durant les trois premières saisons) et qui n'avaient pas encore été traité dans la collection.
- Bernd Schneider et Jörg Hillebrand du site Ex Astris Scientia, ont assisté le modeleur CGI Fabio Passaro en fournissant des matériaux de référence pour de nombreux vaisseaux aliens moins connus.
- Le titre de pré-publication du livre était "Star Trek Shipyards - The Alpha and Beta Quadrant: Volume 1". Prévue pour le 14/12/2021, le livre est finalement paru le 17/05/2022.
- En raison de la faillite d'Eaglemoss en août 2022, le volume "Shipyards - Alpha Quadrant and Major Species: Lysian to Romulan" et le troisième volume non nommé ont été annulés.
