- Ce livre fut conçu à l'origine par John Van Citters et Ben Grossblatt de becker&mayer!, qui ont développé les 10 préceptes autour desquels se structurent l'ouvrage, avant d'introduire l'auteur DeCandido pour les étoffer.
- Outre les sources canons, DeCandido s'est également inspiré de certains romans notamment "The Final Reflection" et "Kahless".
