An insect was a type of lifeform. Insects had an exoskeleton, a body separated into three sections, and six legs.

In the image of Rom as he is about to chew on the Ferengi beetle, you can see that the producers used a giant water bug for the beetle. Also known as "toe-biters" in the US, these large predatory insects are sold and eaten in Thailand.

Background information Edit

The Borg were initially conceived of, by Maurice Hurley, as a race of insects, but were changed to the more budget-friendly cyborgs that went on to become extremely famous. (Captains' Logs: The Unauthorized Complete Trek Voyages, pp. 169 & 180)
