Notes[]
- John Glenn, after retiring as an United States senator, returns to space aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery for mission STS-95. (Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 306)
- Jonas Salk dies this year. (Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 2, p. 247)
- The Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 2, p. 377 stated that the issue of Technology Future featured in "Future's End" was published in December of this year. However, the date is not decipherable on the cover as on screen, and given that the entry was accompanied by a mockup of the cover subtly different from the one seen in the final episode, it is possible that this incorrect version was referenced, and the date differs in the final cover.
- Dean Martin dies. (Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 2, p. 23)
