- The USS Jenolan, while en route to the retirement colony on Norpin V, encounters a Dyson sphere. While the Jenolan's captain investigates the sphere, the ship becomes trapped in it's gravity well and crashes. The only two survivors, Ensign Matt Franklin and passenger Captain Montgomery Scott, unable to wait for a rescue, place themselves in suspended animation by storing their patterns in the pattern buffer of the ship's transporter. - Stardate 38325.3: A northern continent on Oby VI is afflicted by a plasma plague. Dr. Susan Nuress, the principal investigator, and her associates are sent by the Federation to find a cure. The initial cure proves ineffective. (TNG: "The Child")
