3D Systems/Gentle Giant Studios, also known as Gentle Giant Ltd., is an American company that specializes in 3D printing.
Its parent company, 3D Systems, was founded in 1986 in Valencia, California by Chuck Hull, the inventor of SLA rapid prototyping, and is presently headquartered in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Gentle Giant Studios was founded in 1994 in Burbank, California. 3D Systems acquired the studio in 2014. [1]
The company's 3D printing technology is frequently used to produce props and set decorations for Star Trek: Discovery. The company has also manufactured a large number of collectibles for the public, based on licensed entertainment properties.
Gentle Giant Toys, a division of the company, was slated to produce DIS starship toys in 2018 but they did not reach production.
The company debuted a new line of figures based on characters from DIS in 2018.
Gentle Giant's licensed assets and properties were acquired by Diamond Select Toys on 12 February 2019. [2]
