455 Films is a documentary production company that has produced several Star Trek documentaries in collaboration with series cast and crew. The company is based in Hollywood, California, was formed in 2009, and is operated by Owner/President David Zappone.

Of their Star Trek productions, it was their 2019 Star Trek: Deep Space Nine documentary, What We Left Behind, that has garnered the most media attention, as it was as the first of its kind entirely financed by an exceptionally successful crowd-funding drive. The company is confident to repeat that success with a likewise funded Star Trek: Voyager followup documentary. [1]

The company has licensed other companies for distribution of their productions on home video optical disc formats. Of these it was the German New KSM company that became one of the more noticeable ones where the four William Shatner-centered documentaries were concerned, as it were they who released these in the HD Blu-ray Disc format in July 2016, a worldwide first for non-Star Trek franchise documentaries, beating Gravitas Ventures to the punch with their five months later Blu-ray release of For the Love of Spock.

Star Trek documentaries[]

note: distribution licenses concern those for home video disc format releases only, not those for television broadcasts, film festival showings or streamings which are usually the purview of other specialized distributors.
