Star Trek Timeline [INTERACTIVE]

Aaron D. Harberts (born 20 January 1973; age 49) is a writer and producer who was one of the executive producers of Star Trek: Discovery. Together with his writing partner Gretchen J. Berg, he took over as Discovery's showrunner in October 2016, after Bryan Fuller had stepped down from this function. [1] He had previously collaborated with Fuller on Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls (featuring William Sadler). He and Berg were removed from the position of executive producer halfway through production of the show's second season, being replaced by Alex Kurtzman. [2]

Harberts, who is from Waterloo, Iowa, and Berg have been writing partners since meeting at Northwestern University, where both were students. Berg started her line of work as executive story editor on Beverly Hills 90210 in 1999. He then became a writer and story editor on shows including Roswell (again featuring Sadler), John Doe, Pepper Dennis, North Shore, Women's Murder Club, Mercy (with Kate Mulgrew in a recurring role), Off the Map, GCB, Revenge, and most recently Reign. He also served as executive producer or supervising producer on many of those shows. He also worked on the TV movie The Deerings and the feature film Valentine in 2001.

Harberts is openly gay, and married to his husband Scott.
