An acceptance speech was a type of speech given when one accepted an award. In it, the recipient often thanked those who had made their work possible.

In 2371, Odo questioned why Doctor Julian Bashir had been working on his acceptance speech for the Carrington Award if he believed he wasn't going to win. Surprised, Bashir asked him how he knew that; Odo admitted he'd guessed. (DS9: "Prophet Motive")

In 2375, while mulling over the possibility of those crew of USS Voyager involved in developing the quantum slipstream drive being nominated for the Cochrane Medal of Honor, Kathryn Janeway told Chakotay she'd start working on her acceptance speech. The commander then suggested the first line, "I'd like to thank the Borg Collective." (VOY: "Timeless")
