Aesthetics was a branch of philosophy studying art and the perception of beauty and taste.

In 2366, after the activation of Lal's heuristic associative pathways was successful, Data told her that she would begin processing information on aesthetics, logic, metaphysics and epistemology. (TNG: "The Offspring")

According to Data in 2368, he was able to distinguish over 150 musical works simultaneously, but when analyzing their aesthetics he tried to keep the number at 10 or less. (TNG: "A Matter of Time")

The Vorta lacked a sense of aesthetics. Weyoun told Kira Nerys in 2374 that apparently the Founders didn't deem aesthetics to be necessary for the Vorta, so they couldn't be important. He admitted to her though, that sometimes he thought it would be pleasing to have the ability to carry a tune. (DS9: "Favor the Bold")

The same year, The Doctor told Seven of Nine that in designing her attire he had managed to balance aesthetics and functionality. (VOY: "The Gift")

In 2376, Seven was modifying her alcove to function as a cortical processing subunit and therefore cancelled a kadis-kot appointment with Naomi Wildman, telling her to reschedule it for the following day, as she was working. When Naomi told her that "redecorating" wasn't work, Seven replied "aesthetics are irrelevant", indicating that making the unit look pleasing was not her aim. (VOY: "The Voyager Conspiracy")
