Al Cavens (1 October 1906 – 17 December 1985; age 79) was an actor and stuntman who appeared as the Second Fop in the Star Trek: The Original Series third season episode "All Our Yesterdays". He filmed his scene on Friday 20 December 1968 at Paramount Pictures' European Town backlot. He also appeared as a stunt performer in "Day of the Dove".
Hailing from Brussels, Cavens was the son of Hollywood fencing master Fred Cavens and was himself an expert at fencing. The two worked together on many films and television series until the elder Cavens' death in 1962.
Cavens was seen in such films as The Robe (1953, starring Jean Simmons and Jay Robinson and featuring Torin Thatcher, Michael Ansara, Nicholas Coster, Jane Crowley, and Sam Gilman) and Around the World in 80 Days (1956, with Walter Bacon, Dick Cherney, Noble Chissell, Walter Soo Hoo, Bill Couch, Sr., Joe Garcio, Joseph Glick, Lars Hensen, Chuck Hicks, Shep Houghton, Max Kleven, Keye Luke, Monty O'Grady, Victor Paul, Edwin Rochelle, and Ron Veto). Perhaps his most notable work as an actor is Cyrano de Bergerac (1950), portraying Le Vicomte de Valvert. He later reprised this role in a 1968 Broadway revival of the play, for which he was also responsible for the choreography of the swordplay. This production also featured Leon Russom in the cast.
In the early 1960s, Cavens appeared in three episodes of The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (1961-1962) where he worked with Jeannie Malone.
