Algol I was the inhabited first planet in the Algol system. This Alpha Quadrant planet was located in the Kiley Local sector and was approximately 94 light years from Sol.
This ringed planet was orbited by a single moon and was home to the Algolians. This species had become warp-capable and had established first contact with the Federation by 2259.
By that year, their civilization had been or was in the process of being inducted into the Federation (SNW: "Strange New Worlds")
At StarTrek.com, it was said that the Algolian homeworld was in the Algol system. This planet was later identified in the canon as Algol I. [1](X)
