The Algol system, also known as Beta Persei, was a star system located in the Alpha Quadrant. The two components of this trinary star system were the binary star system Algol (the official name for Beta Persei Aa1)/Beta Persei Aa2 and Beta Persei Ab. The system had five planets, including the inhabited warp-capable world of Algol I. Nearby inhabited star systems included the Talar, Galen, Kiley, Gamma Trianguli, Alpha Majoris, and Scalos systems.

By 2259, the Federation had established first contact with this system and could visit it freely.

Stellar cartography[]

The Algol system was visible from Earth in the constellation Perseus. It was approximately 94 light years from Sol.

In 2259, the location of this system was labeled on a stellar cartography chart that was seen on the USS Enterprise's ready room viewscreen. The system's symbol had a blue color, indicating that it was affiliated with the Federation. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds", "Children of the Comet")

In 2324, the location of Algol was labeled in a chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Team briefing. (Star Trek: Section 31)

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. The Algol system was in or near to neutral space. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

In 3189, the location of this system was denoted on a holographic star chart of the galaxy at Federation Headquarters. (DIS: "Scavengers")

This star system was only mentioned in writing.
It was written at StarTrek.com that the Algolian homeworld was located in this system. [1](X) [2](X)
Information on this system was derived from the episodes and films, the reference works Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, and real-world sources. The reference works were used extensively in the creation of star charts seen in Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. The real-world information added to the article was current as of 2025.
