Ali Hassan (born 10 September 1972; age 52) is an actor and comedian who played Commander Hansen Al-Salah in the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds first season episode "A Quality of Mercy".
He was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada to Pakistani parents and grew up in Montréal, Québec. He worked as a chef and caterer before turning to stand up comedy at the age of 34. He began his acting career in 2011 after moving to Toronto.
His screen credits include recurring roles on Designated Survivor (with Zoe McLellan, Jake Epstein, Brian McNamara, Samora Smallwood, Dan Jeannotte, Daniel Jun, Byron Abalos, and Chelsea Harris), Blood & Treasure (with James Callis, Oded Fehr, Alicia Coppola, John Larroquette, and Conrad Pla), Odd Squad (with Patrick Kwok-Choon, Arista Arhin, Amrit Kaur, Grace Lynn Kung, and Ted Kellogg), and Workin' Moms (with Sadie Munroe).
He appeared in guest roles on shows such as Murdoch Mysteries (with Al Vrkljan), Our Ladies of Brooklyn (with Karen Robinson), and Hudson & Rex (with Sima Sepehri).
