"All the Way" was a song originally performed by Frank Sinatra, sung by Vic Fontaine in his holosuite program.

It was Jadzia Dax's favorite song. After her death in 2374, Worf had Vic repeatedly sing it for him, but the song made him so angry that he often destroyed Vic's lounge after hearing it. After one such incident, Fontaine didn't want to continue performing the song and recommended Worf buy a Sinatra album instead. (DS9: "Image in the Sand")

The song's lyrics and music were written by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen for Sinatra in 1957, the same collaborators who wrote "Come Fly with Me".

The song, according to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 18, was about the "strength of commitment in a humanoid pairbonded couple."

Lyrics[]

When somebody loves you
It's no good unless he loves you – all the way
Happy to be near you
When you need someone to cheer you – all the way

Taller than the tallest tree is
That's how it's got to feel
Deeper than the deep blue sea is
That's how deep it goes – if it's real

When somebody needs you
It's no good unless he needs you - all the way
Through the good or lean years
And for all the in between years – come what may

Who know where the road will lead us
Only a fool would say
But if you'll let me love you
It's for sure I'm gonna love you – all the way, all the way
