Anastasia Komananov (Russian: Анастасия Комананова) was a character in the holoprogram Julian Bashir, Secret Agent. She was an operative for the KGB with a rank of colonel, and a rival spy to the main character played by Julian Bashir. However, despite being on opposite sides of a cold war between their respective nations, Bashir and Komananov respected each other's abilities and even became lovers within the program.

In 2372, the explosion of the USS Orinoco caused the transporter patterns of its crew to be temporarily stored within the holoprogram. The character of Komananov subsequently took on the physical characteristics of Kira Nerys.

Komananov informed Bashir about a series of earthquakes around the world and that the two of them would work together to investigate the quakes. She then posed as the wife of Bashir's alias, Patrick Merriweather, and traveled with him and Garak to Paris. There, the three were rendered unconscious by Duchamps and transported to the hideout of Hippocrates Noah. While Noah planned to kill Bashir and Garak, Noah spared the life of Komananov, calling her a "spirited individual", which as a young, healthy woman would help him in creating a new Human race.

According to Bashir, the holoprogram would probably end with the death of either Komananov or Honey Bare, with the surviving woman ending up with him. Trying to prevent that and thus the death of either Kira or Jadzia Dax, Bashir stalled for time and claimed to believe in Noah's plan, actually activating the laser sequence to flood the planet's surface. Komananov then exclaimed in disbelief "you've destroyed the Earth". (DS9: "Our Man Bashir")

When Vic Fontaine was playing matchmaker for Kira and Odo in 2374, he modified the character of Anastasia Komananov to become Lola Chrystal. It took him an hour to get rid of her Russian accent. (DS9: "His Way")

Writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe came up with the name "Anastasia Komananov", which is a tribute to the James Bond series' tradition of women with sexually suggestive names. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 295) However, as Russian surnames change depending on the gender of the person, the correct rendition of the name would have been Anastasia Komananova (Анастасия Комананова).

As the holographic character of Komananov assumes the physical characteristics of Kira Nerys in "Our Man Bashir", the role was played by Kira actress Nana Visitor. She later commented, "I had great fun being Bashir's Bond girl." (The Official Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Magazine issue 16, p. 48)

The real Komananov appears in the Star Trek: The Eugenics Wars novel The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume One, where she is involved in a KGB coup against Mikhail Gorbachev in 1986.
