Q 21st Soldier

Q as a 21st century Earth Army soldier

An army, also known as ground forces, was a branch of a military responsible for conducting combat operations on land.

It was told in the Vulcan story of Nirak that Nirak was standing watch over the gates of Gol when he mistakenly thought that an approaching army was a sandstorm, and failed to send a warning. The army destroyed the city, but they spared Nirak's life. His name later came to mean "fool" in the Vulcan language. (ENT: "Kir'Shara")

On Earth, several Human nations had armies, such as the United States Army, the Mexican Army, the Confederate Army, and the Heer of Nazi Germany.

When the threat of a Skorr jihad was revealed in 2270, Spock calculated that, in two standard years, the Skorr would be capable of breeding an army of two hundred billion warriors. (TAS: "The Jihad")

Q appeared as a 21st century Earth Army soldier to the crew of the USS Enterprise-D in 2364. He was using a box of narcotics labeled "Army". (TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint")

Background information[]

A line of dialogue from the first draft script of ENT: "Shadows of P'Jem" (written while the episode had the working title "Untitled Andorians Return") mentioned an army on the planet Coridan, led by Chancellor Kalev. While interrogating Jonathan Archer, Traeg asked if phase-pistols which Archer and T'Pol had been carrying were intended to be gifts for "the chancellor's army," but Archer replied they were "defensive weapons."
