Arthur C. Clarke was a male Human that lived during the 20th century.

He was famous for positing what would come to be known as Clarke's Third Law, which determined that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

In 2257, Captain Christopher Pike and Michael Burnham were discussing this subject while trying to understand the origins of the Human colonists of New Eden. (DIS: "New Eden")

Clarke was not just a futurist, but also a prominent science fiction writer. His opus, 2001: A Space Odyssey, was referenced and parodied a number of times in Star Trek.
Clarke may have been the namesake of the 23rd century starship USS Clarke.
