As You Like It was a play by the Human playwright William Shakespeare that includes the popular line: "All the World's a stage and all the men and women merely players, they have their exits and entrances and one man in his life plays many parts, his act being seven stages..." which appears on the dedication plaque of the USS Prometheus. (VOY: "Message in a Bottle" set artwork)

In 2364, Q paraphrased a quote from the play, saying that "All the galaxy's a stage", but was corrected by Picard. (TNG: "Hide and Q")

In 2365, the pages from this play, with illustrations, in The Annotated Shakespeare were on display in Captain Jean-Luc Picard's ready room on the USS Enterprise-D. These illustrations depicted costume designs for the characters Rosalind and Celia and an engraving of Tom King. (TNG: "The Schizoid Man", "Loud As A Whisper", "The Measure Of A Man", "Contagion")

Another set of pages, with illustrations, were on display in Picard's ready room later that year. These pages would be put on display again in the same room years later. These illustrations depicted costume designs for the character of Le Beau and an engraving showing people before a wrestling bout. (TNG: "Time Squared", "Unification I", "Conundrum", "Violations").

Before the year ended, and in early 2365, two additional pages, with a photograph of Ronald Pickup as Rosalind and Jeremy Brett as Orlanda performing at the National Theatre, London, in 1968-69, was on display. (TNG: "Pen Pals", "Evolution", "The Ensigns of Command")

The identification of these pages was made by Jörg Hillebrand and Bernd Schneider for Ex Astris Scientia. [1]
