In 2367, after Ishara Yar attacked two members of crew of the USS Enterprise-D, Hayne demanded that she be returned to Turkana IV, stating that the crew of the Enterprise had no jurisdiction in the matter. Commander William T. Riker replied that Hayne's jurisdiction was based entirely upon the threat of violence. (TNG: "Legacy")

After the Female Changeling told Gor, a member of the Breen, that both Romulus and Earth would be theirs to do with as they wish, Weyoun 8 queried her on the matter. He stated that he was under the impression that all Federation planets including Earth would fall under his jurisdiction following the Dominion War. She promised him that this was still the case, that she had only made the promise to help them win the war. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

In 3189, Captain Saru informed Captain Ndoye, of the United Earth Defense Force, that she did not have the jurisdiction for issuing orders to Starfleet officers on a Federation starship. (DIS: "People of Earth")
