Molly's bedtime story

A bedtime story for Molly

A bedtime story was a story told at a child's bedtime, with the hopes of inducing sleep.

In 2369, Miles O'Brien read a bedtime story about Rumpelstiltskin to his daughter Molly. Later, when she reported that the titular character was in her room, he wondered, "Why we tell her stories about evil dwarfs that want to steal children?" (DS9: "If Wishes Were Horses")

In 2372, Corin asked Tuvok to tell him a story about The Fire-Beast of Sullus. After the Vulcan commented, "I never understood the practice in some cultures of describing ferocious creatures in an attempt to lull children to sleep", Corin asked whether Vulcans told bedtime stories. Tuvok then explained that he played music when his children couldn't sleep. (VOY: "Innocence")

In 2378, Neelix asked Naomi Wildman if she wanted him to tuck her in and tell her a bedtime story, something she noted he hadn't done in years. He then suggested that she had missed many stories since then. Naomi declined his offer, as she was no longer little. (VOY: "Homestead")
