Background information[]
- This story was reprinted in the paperback The Mirror Universe Saga.
- Takes place between the events of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
- Most of the mirror counterparts of Kirk and crew are sedated and out of sight.
- This issue shows a Klingon Bird-of-Prey firing while cloaked. Six years later, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country showed the same thing, for the "first" time, on screen.
- The name of the Klingon homeworld is given as "Kash" in this series.
- A "Constellation-class" starship of the Empire is briefly shown, closely resembling and apparently meant to be Constitution-class.
