Ben Vereen (born 10 October 1946; age 77) is the actor who played Commander Edward M. La Forge, MD in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Interface".
Vereen has been an acting and entertaining staple for many years. He has guest starred on many television series and appeared in many movies. He is the godfather of singer/dancer/actor Usher. In the 1977 miniseries Roots, he played 'Chicken' George Moore, the grandson of Kunta Kinte (played originally by LeVar Burton before John Amos took over the role) and Madge Sinclair's Bell.
