Beta Aurigae was an inhabited binary star system in the Alpha Quadrant. This system consisted of the white subgiants Menkalinan (the proper name for Beta Aurigae Aa) and Beta Aurigae Ab. This system was located in the vicinity of Camus II and the Benecia Colony.

History[]

In 2269, the USS Potemkin was scheduled to rendezvous with the USS Enterprise in the Beta Aurigae to conduct gravitational studies of the system. Before the rendezvous, the Enterprise received a distress call from Camus II causing the mission with the Potemkin to be delayed. (TOS: "Turnabout Intruder")

Stellar cartography[]

The Beta Aurigae system was visible from Earth in the constellation Auriga. This system was approximately 81 light years from Sol.

In 2293, the location of Beta Aurigae in the Milky Way Galaxy was labeled in a star chart that was in Captain James T. Kirk's quarters aboard the USS Enterprise-A. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, okudagram)

In 2365, the location of Beta Aurigae was labeled in a Subspace Comm Net Ops star chart, which was seen in the courtroom on Starbase 173. This system was connected to Kling by a subspace line. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man")
