Betty McGuire is the actress who played Vayna in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine second season episode "Sanctuary".
McGuire may best be remembered for her recurring role as Kate Malone on the long-running family sitcom Growing Pains. McGuire's "Sanctuary" co-star Andrew Koenig appeared in McGuire's first episode in his popular role as "Boner". McGuire also had a recurring role on Hill Street Blues ( with Barbara Babcock, Barbara Bosson, and James B. Sikking) in 1982 and Falcon Crest (1988-89 with Brett Cullen, Bruce Gray, and Robert Ito).
Her first television appearance was in a 1973 episode of The Doris Day Show with Lee Meriwether. She later appeared with Meriwether in two episodes of Barnaby Jones in 1975 (the first with Sharon Acker, and the second with Jason Wingreen). She subsequently appeared on such programs as Charlie's Angels (1978, starring Kate Jackson, with Robert Pine), Matlock (with Julie Cobb, Jonathan Frakes, and Stewart Moss), St. Elsewhere (with Ed Begley, Jr., Ronny Cox, Carlos LaCamara, France Nuyen, and Jennifer Savidge), Murder One (with Daniel Benzali, Juliana Donald, John Fleck, Gregory Itzin, Jack Kehler, Donna Murphy, Clayton Rohner, Vanessa Williams, and Bruce Wright), CSI: Miami (with Pat Healy and Salli Elise Richardson), and ER (with Daniel Dae Kim and Bruce Gray).
McGuire's feature film credits include Switchblade Sisters (1975, with Don Stark), Coma (1978, with Lance LeGault), Up in Smoke (1978), and The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981, with Henry Gibson and John Glover). More recently, she was seen in Wishmaster (1997) with Tony Todd.
