Big Finish Productions is a British publisher and producer of audiobooks and plays.
Founded in 1996, Big Finish is best known for its Doctor Who audioworks, having first acquired the license from the BBC in 1998.
Several Star Trek actors, including Alexander Siddig, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alec Newman, Chase Masterson, Ed Bishop, Alice Krige, Simon Pegg, David Warner, and Daphne Ashbrook have performed in Big Finish audio dramas based on Doctor Who. Masterson has the distinction of being the first Trek actor to actually lead an expanded Doctor Who universe spin-off when she was cast as Vienna Salvatori for a Seventh Doctor Big Finish audio drama in 2012, which led to the commissioning of a spin-off audio series, Vienna, focusing on the character.
In 2018, the company announced it had licensed the English-language editions of the Star Trek: Prometheus novels for release as audiobooks, read by Newman. The first two novels in the series were released immediately after the announcement on 4 July 2018; the third was scheduled for December 2018. [1]
