Billy Andersen was a miner on Janus VI mentioned by Ed Appel in a deleted line of dialog found in the 28 December 1966 revision of the script for the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "The Devil in the Dark".
Appel mentioned "I only got away by the skin of my teeth. Poor Billy Andersen... the man who was with me... he never had a chance," when describing the time he shot the Mother Horta, while noting the ineffectiveness of a phaser against the "monster".
Reference to Andersen, however spelled as 'Anderson', also appeared in James Blish's adaptation of the episode found in Star Trek 4.
