History[]
The SS Birdseye from Earth, located by the USS Enterprise-D in 2364, was described as a space module by Lieutenant Commander Data. In the case of the Birdseye, this module was designed to cryogenically preserve individuals who had passed away.
Another satellite of this type was repaired by the crew of the USS Cerritos in 2381. (LD: "I, Excretus")

The design was powered by solar panels, and the interior was divided into four interior sections.
Aboard the Birdseye, several cryogenically frozen Humans who had died of causes that the Humans believed would be treatable in the future. Data was able to retrieve the occupant's personal information from an "ancient disk" that he had removed from the module's computer. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")
