Rickaby was born in Shafer, Minnesota and attended the Chisago Lakes High School. He is also a stage actor and has received several awards for his performances. He has directed and wrote stage plays and short films and has appeared in several television commercials alongside Brad Pitt. He is the founder of the production company Oracle Filmworks.
Rickaby has performed in films such as Diary of a Hitman (1991, with Seymour Cassel, Jake Dengel, and Peter White), The Scout (1994, with Bruce Wright), Hefner: Unauthorized (1999, with Jim Metzler, Mark Harelik, Bill Bolender, and Pat Healy), as Frank Gorshin / The Riddler in Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt (2003, with Lee Meriwether, Frank Gorshin, Julie Newmar, Jim Jansen, Ray Buktenica, Steve Vinovich, Joel Swetow, Julia Rose, Christopher Darga, Ivar Brogger, Todd Merrill, and Scott L.
