Broth was a liquid in which bones, meat, fish, grains, or vegetables have been simmered and strained out. Broth was used as a basis for edible liquids such as soup.

In 2153, Hoshi Sato claimed that she disliked her grandmother's soba noodles (typically served cold in a thin broth) as a child. (ENT: "Exile")

In 2370, Gideon Seyetik served senior staff of Deep Space 9 a dinner of his creation made of one liter of clear rumall stock, among other ingredients. He claimed this broth was the most important ingredient. (DS9: "Second Sight")

Later, Anna offered to make Jean-Luc Picard a broth from some boiled coltayin roots and Terellian spices. (TNG: "Liaisons")

Also that year, Gia tried to give her ill father Garvin broth with no success. (TNG: "Thine Own Self")

When Odo was first found, he seemed to be "a shapeless, viscous mass of fluid, a veritable organic broth", according to Doctor Mora Pol. (DS9: "The Alternate")

In 2371, Neelix told Chakotay that if he stewed leola roots for a few hours in a light herbal broth, he wouldn't even notice the mildew. (VOY: "State of Flux")

Also that year, in USS Voyager's Beowulf holonovel, the character Freya told how atuta was brewed into a broth to bring fighting spirit to the Vikings. The Doctor recognized it as a poisonous fungus. (VOY: "Heroes and Demons")

In 2380, Beckett Mariner was eating noodles and spilling the broth onto the console of the Yosemite before a trip down to Tulgana IV. (LD: "Envoys")
