California was a region located on the Pacific coast of the North American continent of Earth and was one of the 52 states in the United States of America. Starfleet Command, Starfleet Academy and other Starfleet buildings were located in northern California.

The bordering states were Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon and the bordering country was Mexico toward the south. As seen on the flag, the state animal was the grizzly bear. The state motto was, Eureka and the two-letter code for this state was CA.
