- The novel's title does not appear on its cover, where it is identified as The Dominion War, Book Two. Call to Arms appears only on the interior page header, and identifies the book in Pocket's backlist (where it appears as Call to Arms…).
- This novel begins with the Second Battle of Deep Space 9, as seen in "Call to Arms", narrates the events of "A Time to Stand" and ends with the IKS Rotarran destroying several Jem'Hadar ships, as seen in "Sons and Daughters".
