Cary Bates (born 28 October 1948; age 75) is a comic book writer. He began working for DC Comics in 1963 and stayed with them through the early 1980s, working on various series, including Superman and Justice League. He has also worked on a number of video game stories and animated television series.

In 1975, along with Neal Adams, he was the co-author of the 4th story in the Peter Pan Records releases, "The Time Stealer".
