In film, book, and video game credits, "thanks", "special thanks", "acknowledgements", and "grateful acknowledgements" et al., were given to those who "offered a material contribution of some kind but received no financial benefit." In many cases "thanks and special thanks are also a good place to reward people who don't fit neatly into any of the recognized production credits." [1]
