Centarius was a name or title adopted by the Terran emperor Philippa Georgiou, used as part of her full name in the 2250s: "Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius." (DIS: "Vaulting Ambition")

According to Jordon Nardino, Centarius is a reference to Alpha Centauri. His intention in creating the compounded Roman Emperor-like name was that Georgiou was creating a connection between herself an earlier emperor that would have conquered Alpha Centauri: "I figured it was the first system colonized by the Terrans since it’s closest to Sol so it was a title the Emperor at the time took in tribute."
