Charles Maxwell (28 December 19137 August 1993; age 79) was the actor who played Virgil Earp in the Star Trek: The Original Series third season episode "Spectre of the Gun". He filmed his scenes between Wednesday 22 May 1968 and Friday 24 May 1968 at Desilu Stage 10.

He made many appearances on the television Westerns The High Chapperal (as did fellow Trek alumni Morgan Woodward and Henry Darrow), Bonanza, and Gunsmoke, and was the voice of the radio broadcaster throughout the entire run of Gilligan's Island. He also had a role on the short-lived western series The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca, as were fellow Star Trek alumni Skip Homeier, Clegg Hoyt, Brian Keith, William Schallert, Kenneth Tobey, and Original Series star DeForest Kelley.

He also appeared in such films as The Search for Bridey Murphy (1956, with Kenneth Tobey), The Power of the Resurrection (1958, with Richard Kiley and Victor Tayback), and Brainstorm (1965, with Jeffrey Hunter, Phillip Pine, Joan Swift, Biff Elliot, Steve Ihnat, and Bill Quinn).
