Referred to in the final draft script of the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "Mudd's Women", Charley Shorr was a lithium miner who originally lived on Rigel XII with three other miners: Ben Childress, Herm Gossett, and Benton. On the planet's surface, Shorr had stepped out into a sandstorm that he was literally blown away by. This occurred a month before the other miners had interaction with Harcourt Fenton Mudd, Mudd's women, and crewmembers from the USS Enterprise.
