Lee Kelso being strangled

Strangulation or choking was the act of cutting off the flow of air to a lifeform, either externally via pressure to the windpipe, or internally by some obstruction, such as food.

In 2154, Jonathan Archer told Gral and Shran to feel free to strangle each other if they didn't want to cooperate, warning them that their common enemy wanted them to do so. (ENT: "United")

In 2258 of the alternate timeline, James T. Kirk was strangled by Spock after provoking the Vulcan to reveal that he was emotionally compromised following the destruction of Vulcan and the death of his mother, Amanda Grayson. Ayel later did the same to Kirk while Nero went to deal with Spock, only to be shot when Kirk was able to snatch the Romulan's gun. (Star Trek)

In 2265, Lee Kelso was strangled by Gary Mitchell when the lieutenant commander used his enhanced ESP powers to wrap cables around his neck. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before")

In 2266, Spock noted that a dead woman found in a control room on Psi 2000 had been strangled. (TOS: "The Naked Time")

In 2268, an overdramatic Elaan refused the gift of a necklace from Petri, saying she would strangle if she wore it. (TOS: "Elaan of Troyius")

Also that year, James T. Kirk facetiously suggested that Miranda Jones strangle Spock for having seen Kollos. (TOS: "Is There in Truth No Beauty?")

In the Parrises squares finals of 2342, Klingon athlete M'Kota R'Cho strangled a referee who penalized his team. (VOY: "Year of Hell")

In 2365, Geordi La Forge doubted that a small woman could strangle a grown man while playing John H. Watson to Data's Sherlock Holmes. Data countered by agreeing that while she didn't use her hands, her beaded shawl became a garrote. (TNG: "Elementary, Dear Data")

In 2369, Quark rebuffed Rom for his clumsiness in fastening his collar, asking if he wanted to strangle him. (DS9: "The Nagus")

In 2371, Elim Garak acknowledged Odo's normal shapeshifting abilities, suggesting he could stretch out his arms and strangle him from across the room, explaining that he couldn't that time because he had a device capable of emitting a quantum stasis field. (DS9: "The Die is Cast")

In 2372, Liquidator Brunt recommended death by strangulation to Quark so that the Ferengi bartender could keep the terms of the contract they made, citing leaving behind a relatively unmarked corpse as a reason why. (DS9: "Body Parts")

In 2373, a report by Cardassian guards on Terok Nor said that Benjamin Sisko had tried to strangle Gul Dukat. (DS9: "Things Past")

Also that year, while on the space station Empok Nor, Garak accused Miles O'Brien of wanting to strangle him with his bare hands. (DS9: "Empok Nor")
